Individually, Brooke, Samantha and Mollie McClymont are amongst the most talented performers of their generation. But put them together, and The McClymonts weave a very special kind of musical magic. With their exquisite three-part harmonies, soaring vocals and stunning onstage presence, it’s not surprising that The McClymonts have taken the Australian music scene’s collective breath away. Since forming just a few short years ago, and releasing their debut album, Chaos and Bright Lights, they’ve dominated the Country Music Awards of Australia’s Group of the Year category, winning the Golden Guitar three years in a row.
Now The McClymonts take another step forward with the imminent release of their new album, Wrapped Up Good. Recorded in Nashville, the album has harnessed the talents of Taylor Swift’s producer, Nathan Chapman, and the producer of Chaos and Bright Lights, Adam Anders. To celebrate this album, which was debuted to the Australian public at Tamworth this year, the McClymont sisters are heading around the country to share their incredible musical talent with Aussie’s everywhere.
Due for release in January at Tamworth, fans of The McClymonts are getting a sneak peak of this fantastic new record as the sisters head off around Australia for a whirlwind tour that will keep them busy right up until Christmas. Heading out on the road for some select dates throughout Queensland and New South Wales, the girls will be showcasing some tracks from the forthcoming release, which includes the hot new singles that are searing up the radio charts Kick It Up and the title track due for release in November Wrapped Up Good. The sisters have been overseas three times this year alone, writing and recording the new album and touring. Samantha is enthusiastic about the record, and is excited to be sharing some of the new tracks with fans. “For fans who loved the first record, they’ll notice some similarities… it’s got the same sound,” she says. “We worked with the same producer, and there are also four new tracks recorded with Taylor Swift’s producer. I think, because we’ve been touring this last record (Chaos and Bright Lights) for two years we’ve grown musically. We’ve improved and have grown into our songwriting, and I think you can only do that with experience.”
The maturity of sound still has that trademark The McClymonts feel, which was important for the girls to keep. Brooke says she hopes fans will be as excited by the new material as they are to be playing it. “We’re excited to learn new songs for the tour,” she says. “It’s also exciting for us to know that our record company is letting us put out another album of our stuff, which means we can keep doing what we are doing.” And after a radio tour of the States, the sisters are looking forward to getting back and playing to Aussie audiences. “It’s always good to come back home,” Mollie says. “There is nothing like coming back home and seeing all the Aussies who know your songs. They’re still supporting us while we’re away, buying our album… I think that’s why country music is so good, the fans are so loyal and support you no matter what!”
